About Chilám

Chilám means "mouth". The Mayans used this word to refer to those who interpreted the sacred. Mayans believe ingredients like corn and cacao bind men and gods, something that continues being a huge part of our culture. In Mexico, food is often a ritual: cooking and eating together is one of the best ways to spend time with our loved ones and celebrate. We even prepare food and bring it to the altars of those who are no longer with us.

Cooking is an Act of Love. Selecting a dish, finding the right ingredients, the time and energy we spend cooking and serving it, it's all part of that labor of love and nourishment.

I started Chilám as a way to honor the food I grew up with. We want to make it easier for you to enjoy Mexican flavors and share them with those you love too.

So, here it is, from our kitchen to yours: Chilám.
